Créer des ponts – Vitrines sur l'art

Complexe Desjardins, 150 Sainte-Catherine St. W.

Open in google map
From July 22 to October 15
Complexe Desjardins is pleased to host two artists in residence: Jean-François Roy and Sébastien Gaudette. The young Montreal artists both work extensively with paper.
CRÉER DES PONTS is an ambitious initiative spearheaded by the Art Souterrain organization, in partnership with the Ville de Montréal. It consists of a three-month creative workshop in the heart of downtown Montreal for up-and-coming artists.

Inside the Complexe, the vacant storefront next to the 5ième Avenue store will be transformed into a space for the artists to spend their residency and meet the public. The space will be used in alternation by two contemporary Québécois artists, Jean-François Roy and Sébastien Gaudette.
Jean-François Roy is a Montreal-based artist and a graduate of McGill University’s School of Architecture. His artistic research focuses on the use of origami at architectural scales.
Sébastien Gaudette’s art research examines paper as an artistic medium. His work explores the many aspects of the crumpling of paper, of which he creates uncanny trompe l’oeil images in the form of drawings and sculptures.
